Once Upon a Time Recap: Season 1 Episode 14 Dreamy 3/4/12

Once Upon a Time Recap: Season 1 Episode 14 'Dreamy' 3/4/12

After a one week hiatus tonight is an all new episode of Once Upon A Time called ‘Dreamy’on ABC.  Stay tuned as we live blog the show with up-to-the-minute details. On last episode we did not get to see Mr.Gold/Rumpelstiltskin.  Without Rumpel I’m not sure I could stay with this show. Robert Carlyle is such an amazing actor that I am shocked that he hasn’t made it really big before.

Anyway, this episode was okay – but not better than that.  Regina was evil, Charming was dense, Emma was cautious but brave, Mary Margaret was making life difficult for herself, and Henry was adorable and optimistic – in other words it was business as usual on the show.  If you missed the show you can read our official recap here!   We also got our hands on some pictures of Robert Carlyle who plays Rumpelstiltskin on the set of Once Upon A Time – you can see the photos here.

On tonight’s show unlikely allies Mary Margaret and Leroy team together for a good cause to help the Storybrooke nuns sell their candles during the town’s Miner’s Day festival. But Leroy makes a promise to a nun, Astrid, that he may not be able to keep; and Emma looks into the mysterious disappearance of David’s wife, Kathryn. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Grumpy finds forbidden love with beautiful but clumsy fairy Nova.

We will be live blogging the show with all the up-to-the-minute details at 7PM EST so make sure to come back to this spot and watch the show with us. While you wait for the recap you can watch a sneak peek video of the episode here!

Tonight’s Episode: The show opens with 2 fairies and one of the fairies is telling the other to be careful because fairy dust is the rarest in the land. The other fairy that has been collecting fairydust from the mines wonders why she is not a fairy godmother yet. The other fairy tells her she is a dreamer.

In the fairytale the dwarfs are taking care of eggs – one of the eggs hatches and a dwarf comes out – they welcome him to the world. Back in Storybrooke we see a man at the diner and someone asks him for a seat and he gets upset and rude. Mary Margaret walks in and apologizes for interrupting their morning. Mary Margaret announces that Miners Day is coming up and all she needs is some energetic volunteers. The man who was sitting at the table asks her to move so he can get by. She asks if he wants to help and he tells her if she is coming to him she is screwed. The town drunk and the town harlot.

Marty Margaret leaves and Emma follows her and asks what is Miners Day Mary Margaret tells her it is a holiday celebrating when Nuns use to make candles and trade for coal with the miners.

Mary Margaret tells Emma she has never been a home-wrecker before. Emma tells her she does not have to do charity to get people to love her. MM says what else can I do. The phone rings and Emma tells Mary Margaret that duty calls and tells her if she can help she will.

The town is setting up for Miners Day and the man from the restaurant walks by a girl on a ladder and she drops something on his head. She apologizes and he nicely tells her no problem and offers to help her with the lights she is fixing. She tells him he is her hero. He lets her know his name is Leroy. He is in custodial duties and what he really wanted to do with his life is sail. He apologizes for complaining and she say ‘someone once told me you can do anything you dream.’

Emma is at the outskirts of Story Brooke and she finds a car owned by Katherine Nolen and it looks abandoned. Sydney shows up with his camera, Sydney is suspicious because her suitcase is still in the car. David shows up and Emma is breaking the news. Sydney comments do you really think he does not know? He offers to get Emma the phone records of Katherine to see who she was talking with before her mysterious disappearance.

In the fairytale the person who hatched from the tree wants to know what he is. The man answers, you are a dwarf. He wants to know who the women was he saw and the man lets him know that there are no women dwarfs or babies. He introduces him to the rest of the dwarfs. The newbie asks, ‘what do drawfs do’ and is told ‘they work!’ Each of them grabs an ax and on the axes are their dwarf names.

They are welcomed to the mines.

In Storybrooke Leroy goes to see Mary Margaret to sign up, she is not enthusiastic. She finally lets him man the candle booths. Meanwhile the lady he helped this morning with the lights is having problems and he comes over to her to see if he can help. She lets Leroy know she spent all the stipend she had for the month on helium and forgot to leave some for the rent. She lets Leroy know if she does not pay the rent Mr. Gold will throw them out. Leroy promises to help her sell all the candles so she will have enough money for the rent.

Emma realizes that David has no idea where Katherine is – he lets Emma know he has not spoken to Katherine since he broke up with her – he assumed she had gone to Boston. Emma promises to find her.

Regina calls Sydney and tells him she has the phone records he needed.

The dwarfs are working in the mine – the fairy is collecting the fairy dust and she gets stuck. Dreamy the dwarf tells her she is the person he saw when he hatched. As they are speaking the fairy dust fell on the conveyor belt and Dreamy runs and rescues it from the fire for her. Nova lets him know she is an idiot, all she every wanted to do is be a fairy godmother, but she is so clumsy she cannot even gather fairy dust.

Nova asks Dreamy if he wants to go see the fireflies with her that night. Dreamy thinks it sounds fun and tells her to have fun. She thanks him and lets him know she is his hero.

Mary Margaret and Leroy are selling candles and it is not working. Leroy decides they have to sell door to door because people dislike both of them so much they will buy the candles just to get rid of them.

Emma asks Sydney for the phone records and he implies that Mary Margaret may have done something to Katherine. Emma lets him no there is no way that could be true – she knows MM!

Leroy and Mary Margaret are having no luck selling candles door to door and are getting a lot of doors slammed in their faces.

Dreamy is upset because he does not feel good – he does not want to eat. He does not know what is wrong with him. Belle tells him he is not sick he is in love. Dreamy asks if love is so great why does he feel so bad. Belle clears things up for Dreamy and lets him know Nova was inviting him on a date to see the fireflies. She tells him to go find his love and his dream.

Sister Astrid has dropped a few things and Leroy comes to tell her he has bad news. He lets her know that he and Mary Margaret sold all her candles and they are not losing the convent. Not true!

Mary Margaret is really upset with Leroy because he has now said they sold $5,000 worth of candles but it is not true. He tells Mary Margaret that the nuns will have to leave if they do not get the money. He lets Mary Margaret know he is going to get the money. Mary Margaret realizes he likes Nun Astrid and she is shocked. He tells her how can she be shocked as she loves a married man.

Dreamy heads for the fireflies and Nova meets him she was afraid he was not going to show up. The fireflies come and they are excited. Dreamy suggests they get a boat and run off together. She grabs him and kisses him – they are leaving tomorrow night.

Leroy is talking to Mr. Gold he is trying to get him to pay $5,000 for his boat Leroy suggests that he does not pay for the boat just take the boat for the rent. Mr. Gold refuses, he has a long and complicated history with the nuns.

Astrid shows up at his boat and gives him a pie she has made for him. She sees the candles on the boat and realizes he has not sold the candles. He fesses up and admits that he did not sell them he was afraid to tell the truth and let her down. He apologizes and says: ‘I guess you believe in the wrong guy.’

Emma is at the sheriff’s office and Sydney comes in and gives Emma Katherine’s phone records. It seems David called Katherine and spoke for 8 minutes one hour before she spoke. Emma does not believe it because David told her he did not speak to Katherine.

Leroy comes to see Mary Margaret and she tells him the town drunk and the town harlot could not accomplish it and he replies: ‘just dreaming.’

Fairytale – Dreamy is trying to sneak out and the rest of the dwarfs are upset because he is leaving without saying goodbye. He lets the other dwarfs know he is running away with Nova. The dwarfs embrace him and are happy. A older dwarf follows him and lets him know that he cannot leave that he cannot love – Nova’s teacher shows up and tells him it is true he cannot love he is just dreaming. She lets him know if he goes back to the mines Nova can be a great fairy if he lets her.

Mary Margaret tells Leroy that he can never have a relationship with Astrid. He asks her if she regrets the good memories she has with David. All he wants is one moment with Astrid to make him believe anything is possible. He tells her she had the dream, but she says the dream was not worth it.

Over at the miners festival, Leroy climbs to the top of the roof and Mary Margaret think he is going to jump – but he is not – he is breaking the transformer so all the lights go off that are over the miners festival – so there are no lights and people will have to sell candles.

Nova is waiting for Dreamy and he shows up and she wants to show him something. She gives him a spyglass and he sees a boat. It has everything they need to explore the world. Dreamy tells her he cannot go with her. She is upset – their dream will not be realized, he is a dwarf he lets her know and she is a fairy and he belongs in the mines. He wants to know what makes them any different than any other fairy and dwarf. Dreamy lets her know she can be a fairy godmother still and Nova realizes he has spoken to the Blue Fairy. She professes her love for him and he says: ‘I am a dwarf, I cannot love.’ Dreamy comes back to the mines and asks the other miners where his axe is. They are surprised he is back but they welcome him and he says ‘No place I would rather be’ he starts smashing his ax on the rock and he breaks his axe. He asks for another axe and they hand it to him and his name has changed and he is now Grumpy.

Mary Margaret and Leroy are sold out of candles and they are both excited. Mary Margaret tells Leroy to go give Astrid the news and have his moment. Leroy gives Astrid the box with $5,000 and she is so excited and speechless. He lets Astrid know he is going to fix his boat up and he would love if she was his first passenger. He promises that is what they will do.

Emma is perusing Katherine’s phone records – Regina shows up and asks if she knows where her friend Katherine is?

Mary Margaret puts a sign on her table that the candles are sold out and leaves for her car. One the window of her car someone has written TRAMP in ugly bold red paint. As she walks through the fair David is watching her.

Emma comes up to David and he ask if she found Katherine. She lets David know he has to come to the sheriff’s office to tell him everything. He says he did and Emma says I thought so too… . Those nasty phone records. Meanwhile Mary Margaret sees Emma putting David in the squad car.
