Teen caught in 'door kick' TikTok challenge faces charges in Star neighborhood

A 15-year-old Star boy was caught doing the "door kick" challenge in the Taurus Way and State Street neighborhood.

According to Star Police, mule-kicking front doors and running away is the latest version of the "ding-dong-dash" prank and has been circulating on TikTok since last summer.

Star officers were called to a home just before 7 p.m. on Sunday to investigate a report of someone dressed in all black running up to a door, kicking it and running away, which was caught on a Ring camera.

Officers began investigating, talked to neighbors who reported similar activity and quickly identified suspects.

Officers also talked to several teens about what was going on and found the culprit, who now has a pending misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace to deal with.

Star Police says that type of prank may seem harmless, but it is not. It can be scary and anger-inducing for homeowners.

Law enforcement all over the Treasure Valley has been dealing with different TikTok challenges over the years. The challenges are often dangerous, mindlessly destructive and often illegal.

If caught vandalizing something, teens could end up on probation for a few years. They may have to spend several dozen hours doing community service. They may be suspended from school or banned from extracurriculars.
