What Cologne Does Tom Hardy Wear?

Since his appearance in Inception, Tom Hardy has become the face of British gentlemen because of his timeless appearance. Looking at him you get the feeling that he smells of rich mahogany, scotch, and cigars.

Tom Hardy wears Sequoia Wood The Perfumer’s Story by Azzi as well as Tom Ford cologne. The Sequoia Wood fragrance was created by the famed perfumer Azzi Glasser. Glasser has been behind collaborations from Alexander McQueen to Chiltern Firehouse.

You can read more below about the perfumer Azzi Glasser, the Sequoia Wood fragrance, and what Tom Ford cologne Tom Hardy wears.

Who is Azzi Grasser?

Sequoia Wood The Perfumer’s Story by Azzi is not your most well-known fragrance out there. While it was created by a very famous perfumer, it isn’t part of the mainstream designer fragrances or fragrances created by celebrities.

Azzi Glasser, the nose behind the fragrance, became enamored with the world of scents from a young age. Growing up in the 70s, her mother would often put on a fragrance called worth and kiss her goodnight before heading out for the evening.

The smell of the perfume would fill the air surrounding her and Azzi fell in love with the world of fragrances. She ended up becoming a perfumer and has had some of the most prestigious jobs in the industry.

Glasser was the person behind the smells of Alexander McQueen’s runway shows and she had worked with huge stars. Those stars include Tom Hardy, Helena Bonham Carter, and Johnny Depp.

In fact, she has worked with a lot of these celebrities to create their own unique fragrances so that their smell cannot be replicated. Tom Hardy was actually one of those celebrities.

Glasser told AnOther Magazine that “I gave Tom Hardy a fragrance that I thought he would love and he just said, ‘This is really lovely, it’s great, but can I just have the one that you smell like all the time?’ It’s Sequoia Wood which is completely unisex – I don’t like puny, sweet smells – and it’s very woody, super sexy.”

Hardy decided to start wearing Glasser’s Sequoia Wood fragrance instead of wearing the signature fragrance she had created for him. Her Sequoia fragrance isn’t just loved by Tom Hardy either.

Helena Bonham Carter is a big fan of the fragrance as well, although Glasser also made her a signature scent. The signature scent she had created for Bonham Carter was inspired by the actress’s eccentric quirkiness.

You can watch Azzi Glasser talk all about creating custom fragrances for Hollywood’s biggest stars in the below interview she did with FASHCAST.

Sequoia Wood, A Tom Hardy Favorite

Azzi Glasser was inspired to create the Sequoia Wood fragrance after the British perfumer visited the sequoia tree forests in California. She was drawn by the unique scent of the trees that isn’t there with other wood scents. Saying that it has a sensual aroma with a juicy sexiness.

As for the fragrance, it is completely centered around the scent of red sequoia wood. Its top notes are neroli and palmarosa. While the base notes are cedar, patchouli, and white musk.

This combination of scents tells you right away that it is a unisex fragrance and perfect for anyone to wear who likes a unique combination of smells. It is also highly rated.

On Fragrantica the fragrance has a user rating of 4.42 of 5 stars. Also, it is somewhat affordable when considering Sequoia Wood is a limited-edition fragrance.

A 30ml bottle is £95 or $130 US. Although 30ml of a fragrance really is not a lot to use.

Other Colognes Tom Hardy Wears

As we said above, Tom Hardy is also rumored to wear Tom Ford cologne but the specific cologne that he wears isn’t actually known. So it’s quite hard to determine what one he wears.

Although we do feel that a Tom Ford cologne would be the perfect fit for Tom Hardy. The fragrances like Ombre Leather, Oud Wood, and Tobacco Vanille all seem like they would be suited to him.

However, since he actually uses Sequoia Wood a unisex fragrance a scent like Tom Ford’s Black Orchid or Arabian Wood may be more Tom Hardy’s style. Either way, the man knows what he likes in a cologne.
